Padmé supporting the Sith? The latest Star Wars revelations maintain that Darth Vader’s girlfriend would have joined the Dark Side.
Darth Vader believes that Padmé would have joined the Sith. In the latest installment of the Star Wars comics, the Dark Lord hints that his late wife would have sided with him. During the last issues there has been the return of the servants of the queen of Naboo, who now call themselves the Amidalanas. Lord Vader has already succeeded in corrupting Sabé in the name of the Dark Side. Now, he intends to recruit the rest of Amidala’s trusted allies.
In Darth Vader #30, Sabé is on a mission to kill Jul Tambor while Dormé and the rest of Padmé’s handmaidens infiltrate The Executor, the Sith Lord’s flagship. While looking for Sabé to try to rescue her from her, in her place they find Darth Vader himself, who reveals Sabé’s new allegiance to them. Offering them the same opportunity to serve him as well, the Dark Lord uses Padmé’s memory to convince the Amidalanas. Although they have tried to kill him in the past, they seem convinced by the Star Wars villain’s claim that her ex-partner’s faith in the Dark Side would have led her to join him if she were alive.
Is the Sith Lord’s belief on this issue true?
Although Padmé’s handmaidens eventually decide to join Darth Vader in his rescue mission to save Sabé, who has been captured by the still-living Tambor, the villain appears to be unaware of the means by which he achieves such an order. Despite his belief that Padmé would have joined him, the Dark Lord is likely lying to himself.. It is very hard to believe that she would have supported the achievement of order through oppression and force as the Galactic Empire has done. That said, “order” is something Darth Vader has clung to for several installments, believing it gives him some level of superiority over his master Darth Sidious.
