A young boy, son of Lord Robert Plunder who was a well-known British nobleman and scientist. Convinced of the existence of a new element in nature, which he later revealed to be an isotope of VibraniumLord Plunder found himself in the Savage Land to his bewilderment and surprise.
Who is Ka-Zar from Marvel Comics?
Once he wanted to return to continue exploring those lands, he took his youngest son, Kevin. They were on the run from powerful agents who were after Lord Plunder’s discovery. In order to avoid them they fled to the Savage Land. What better place to flee and continue exploring than that discovery?
But the visit did not end as the good scientist expected. They were attacked by a species of gorilla men led by Maa-Gor, who was the one who ended up ending the Lord’s life and leaving the boy an orphan. The boy was found by Zabu, who took pity on him and soon took a liking to him. That affection turned into love and trust and the tiger proclaimed himself Kevin’s mentor and protector.
That’s where its name comes from. Given that Ka’Zarin the language of the natives of the Savage Land, means, “The son of the tiger«. Both became inseparable friends and companions, serving as protectors of their home against threats from the other world.
But long before this more evolved Ka’Zar, there was another one in the 1930s. It was created by a pulp writer, Bob Byrd. his name was David Rand and was one of the first characters chosen by martin goodman, Stan Lee’s cousin-in-law, when in 1936 he launched a series of comic magazines that later ended up giving the company’s name. We could say of Ka-Zar that he is one of the first superheroes in the history of Marvel Comics.
