TEL AVIV, 17 JAN – A young Palestinian was killed today by Israeli military fire at a checkpoint set up in Halhul, near Hebron (West Bank). According to military sources quoted by Israeli public radio, they opened fire to first against the soldiers who responded to the attack by killing him. The Palestinian news agency Maan claims that his name was Hamdi Abu Dayeh and that he held the rank of captain in the Palestinian police. Other media add that he left a farewell letter. The Israeli army checks whether it was he who shot at an Israeli bus in the same area two days ago. (HANDLE).
