TEL AVIV, 16 JAN – An Italian citizen of around 50, Stefania Costantini, was arrested this morning in the Dheisheh refugee camp in Bethlehem, in the West Bank, during an operation by the Israeli army. According to what is learned, the reasons why she was stopped are not clear at the moment. The Italian diplomatic authorities, the consulate in Jerusalem and the embassy in Israel are following the case. Local sources, quoted by the Palestinian agency Wafa, reported that “Israeli soldiers broke into the house of Palestinian journalist Nidal Abu Aker, beat his son, who had just undergone surgery, and questioned his wife”. The soldiers, Wafa continued, also broke into the home of Abu Aker’s elderly mother, where they found the activist and arrested her. (HANDLE).
