Taking a swift stance the Government through the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) and the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh secured Siti Kurmeisa, an Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) who went viral.
This was conveyed directly by Suhartono the Director General of Manpower Placement and Expansion of Employment Opportunities at the Ministry of Manpower who bypassed the Labor Attache at the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh.
“We immediately asked the Atnaker (Labor Attache) at the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh to immediately make efforts to handle it according to applicable regulations, and look for PMI data,” he said as quoted by Antara. Sunday (29/1/2023).

According to Suhartono, his party immediately coordinated with related parties after it went viral. Because, in the video, the name, area of origin and place or country of PMI’s work are unknown.
Furthermore, based on the information collected by the Ministry of Manpower, it turns out that the PMI’s name is Siti Kurmeisa from Cianjur, West Java and has been stationed in Dammam, Saudi Arabia since November 24, 2022.
Based on information from Suseno Hadi, the Indonesian Embassy’s staff worker in Riyadh, Siti Kurmeisa has been at the Indonesian Embassy’s shelter to be given protection and will be further questioned as of Saturday (28/1/2023).
Meanwhile, Rendra Setiawan, Director of PMI Placement and Protection at the Ministry of Manpower, asked the Atnakers of the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh to explore the process of placing Siti, so that the perpetrators of her placement could be identified as well as monitoring this problem.
This, in line with the placement of PMI to work for individual employers in 19 regional countries in the Middle East including Saudi Arabia, is still prohibited in accordance with the provisions in Kepmenaker No. 260 of 2015.

Suhartono also called on the public to have the courage to resist the lure or lure of working abroad, which were indicated to be carried out unprocedurally or illegally, especially to Saudi Arabia as domestic workers.
