BMW has explained that Valentino Rossi could test the M Hybrid V8 prototype: in his sights the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Valentino Rossi is preparing to start his first season in BMW at the Dubai 24 Hours, in which he will take turns on the track together with other drivers in the German company’s GT3 car. The nine-times world champion took to the track on Thursday for the first free practice sessions.
But BMW is already looking to the future: motorsport boss Andreas Roos at Sportscar365 has revealed plans for the Doctor to test the M Hybrid V8 prototype, which will participate in the WEC and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024. “We have the idea of doing a test with Valentino as Rossi has never driven a car like the M Hybrid. We need to test it and see how it performs. We could have this test towards the end of the year, we are all very busy at the moment with preparations for the new season.”
“It’s too early to talk about what Valentino will do in the future – explained Roos -. We’ll do some tests and from there we’ll see the next steps to take. There it will be clear whether he’ll have the chance to race with the M Hybrid full-time or not. we will understand how and if we will have the possibility to continue”
