PAN Secretary General Eddy Soeparno stated that the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB), which was driven by his party together with Golkar and PPP, would not rush to announce the presidential and vice presidential candidates (Capres-Cawapres) they were carrying.
This, said Eddy, because KIB already has its own schedule and strategy.
“That in fact there are various parties that have announced who will be their presidential candidate, even saying that a coalition has been formed, doesn’t make us feel that we have missed the train,” he said, Monday (23/1/2023).
Discussions regarding the presidential and vice presidential candidates, said Eddy, will be discussed together and the decision will be taken collegially, after going through internal studies and processes for KIB.

He also emphasized that so far PAN together with the Golkar Party and PPP are still solid in the KIB lifeboat.
“Very solid, the chairmen generally speak very regularly, we in the work team also speak very regularly,” said Eddy.
Ridwan Kamil prefers to join Golkar
Meanwhile, regarding Ridwan Kamil who preferred to join Golkar, Eddy admitted that his party respected the decision of the Governor of West Java.
“Oh no, we are also together, making an effort, looking for a match together, exploring each other,” he said.

He also welcomed Ridwan Kamil’s optimistic meeting with the Golkar Party, which is his party’s coalition partner.
According to him, more and more public figures who have a good track record of playing an active role in political parties can lead to a brighter future for Indonesian politics.
“So I congratulate Kang Emil, including congratulations to Golkar for getting Kang Emil, a West Java figure, a governor who has a pretty good track record,” said Deputy Chair of Commission VII DPR.
Eddy admitted that his party had maintained a good relationship with Ridwan Kamil after officially joining the Golkar Party. This, he continued, also did not dampen PAN’s determination to continue to play an active role for the community.
“Even though the boats are different, I think our mission remains the same,” he said.
He said that so far there has been no discussion regarding Ridwan Kamil’s name in the internal KIB.
KIB, he said again, is currently focusing on discussing the discourse on changing the open proportional system to a closed one in elections.
“Not yet, I think it will be discussed later, after all, he has only just joined the Golkar Party in a matter of weeks,” he said.
Deputy Head of Golkar
Previously, Wednesday (18/1), Ridwan Kamil announced that he had officially joined as a cadre of the Golkar Party with the position of Deputy Chairperson for Voter Raising and co-chair of Bappilu Golkar Party.
“Actually, I didn’t ask, it was up to Mr. Airlangga. But Mr. Airlangga was kind enough to put me in the position of Deputy Chairperson for Voter Raising (the field) and co-chair of Bappilu, the Election Winning Body,” said Ridwan Kamil at the Golkar Party DPP Office, Jakarta.
