Ukraine calls drone strikes punishment for Iran Photos/BBC
KIEV – Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ukraine accuse Iran support aggression Russia and implying the reported explosion at Tehran’s military-industrial facility in Isfahan was a lawful punishment.
Even so, Ukraine said it did not know who was behind the attack.
“Ukraine has repeatedly warned Iran: the consequences of supporting aggression against Ukraine will far outweigh the benefits of cooperation with Russia,” Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko wrote on Facebook, in Ukrainian.
“We don’t know what caused the explosion at the Iranian facility. But as the Persian proverb says, don’t be mean to others, and you won’t hurt yourself,” Nikolenko added as quoted from RT, Tuesday (31/1/2023).

Nikolenko’s comments followed news that the Iranian government had summoned Ukraine’s charge d’affaires in Tehran to explain tweets by President Volodymyr Zelensky’s aide, Mikhail Podoliak.
“The logic of war is inescapable and deadly. It will charge its creators and accomplices strictly. Explosive night in Iran – drone and missile production, oil refineries. Ukraine has warned you,” Podoliak tweeted on Sunday, commenting on the explosion at a military facility in Isfahan.
According to Iranian media, the tweet was a “tacit acknowledgment of Ukraine’s participation in the attack.” Podoliak has previously called for strikes on Iran’s military industry, accusing Tehran in December of providing Russia with drones and missiles.
The Iranian government denounced the threatening rhetoric, naming Podoliak, and said that all political and legal responsibility for such statements would rest with the Ukrainian government.
