ANKARA – President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan saying, his country is not only safe from difficult times, but also moving forward. Turki aims to increase the range of its domestic missiles from 565 kilometers to 1,000 kilometers.
During a visit to the southwestern Mugla province, Erdoğan said that since he took office in the early 2000s, the domestic defense industry’s production of state arms rose by 20% to 80%.

“National issues are above politics, and must remain so. If we have achieved gains in the Mediterranean, Aegean and Black Seas, we must protect them together, without exception,” Erdogan said, Saturday (14/1/2023), as quoted from Anadolu Agency.
Currently Turkey produces its own unmanned drones and combat drones. Erdoğan underlined that the Bayraktar Kizilelma aerial combat vehicle will carry the bombs carried by the F-16 after starting mass production.
In December, Turkish defense company Baykar made the maiden flight of the Bayraktar Kizilelma, or Red Apple. Featuring a low radar signature thanks to its design, the Kizilelma will be capable of carrying out the most challenging missions.

The drone will also be capable of flying with a payload of up to 1,500 kilograms, equipped with Turkish-made ammunition, and high situational awareness with an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, also developed domestically.
Erdogan said domestic missile tests were continuing, adding that such tests “scared” Greece, underlining the tests from the coastal city of Izmir, near the Greek islands in the Aegean Sea.
“The tests are being carried out from Izmir, and the missiles that might be launched from there are starting to scare them,” Erdogan said. Erdogan stressed that Turkey’s defense industry is growing stronger and terrorist groups are being “crushed”.
