Last year, it was reported that Call of Duty would skip its annual release for the first time in two decades, with the Treyarch-developed game originally planned for this year pushed back to 2024. More than 90% of gamers surveyed said they thought the rest was the best to bring something new and fresh.
As reported by GGRecon, it appears that Treyarch is working on a new Call of Duty Zombies mode, because there are currently five different job postings at the company for various zombie-related roles. These include “Lead Zombie Game Designer”, “Top Level Designer (Zombies)”, and “Lead Zombie Game Engineer”.
Unsurprisingly, these listings don’t explicitly state that they’re related to the Call of Duty series, but really, what else would they be for? Although the developers have made many different games in the past, Treyarch hasn’t developed anything outside of the Call of Duty franchise since late 2008.
Based on the amount of staff they are looking for, the studio is clearly investing heavily in the mode – it will be interesting to see what they bring to the table and if we could see a new zombies mode in 2023 as there won’t be a new Call of Duty game a zombie mode. would be the right thing.
