The future of Halo is uncertain after everything that happened with the launch of Halo Infinite and the internal problems at 343 Industries. The crisis is such that it was even said that the studio would leave the franchise, but now we know that the saga will stay in their hands and that the current team will continue to be active.
Being one of Xbox’s mainstay franchises, Phil Spencer couldn’t stay silent, so he opened up about it during an interview with IGN. The manager made it clear that Halo is very important to Xbox and that 343i is vital to its success, so he is confident in the future of the saga and the company.

Spencer acknowledges mistakes and strengths of 343i and Halo
Spencer accepted that Halo Infinite fell short of everyone’s expectations and was what landed 343i in the spotlight. Even so, he thinks the studio has done a great job of keeping the series going and delivering its latest installment to fans. Likewise, he believes that the initial reception of the game has gradually changed and is now positive.
He also acknowledged that 343i hasn’t been up to the task when it comes to releasing new content and quality quotas, but he’s convinced the current team has a plan and he’s willing to back it up.
“I think there are some mistakes that we made as a team, for sure. But I don’t want to take away from the fact that the team did a great job and made a great Halo game. At the same time, when we released that game, we knew we had to engage with people in terms of content updates, timing, and quality, and we didn’t hit our own bar. (…) The team has a very good plan”, said Spencer.
He stressed that Halo will continue to be “critical to what Xbox is doing” and that 343i is also “critical to the success of Halo.” In this sense, the study will continue to be in charge of the franchise. So they will do everything they can to support him and get ahead.
“The heart and soul of Halo is in 343i and the team that is there, and I have the utmost confidence both in the team that is there and leads and in the plan they have for the future,” added the manager.
Spencer refused to talk about the future of Halo Infinite
During the interview Spencer was also asked about the promise of 10 years of support for Halo Infinite. Many believe that this will not come to pass due to all the issues and the current state of the game. Unfortunately, the Xbox executive did not speak on the subject directly.
“I’m going to let 343i talk about the plans they have right now, let people know that they have the next season coming up, and they’re excited about it. They have other things, some rumored, some announced, that they’re going to work on. They are excited about the plan to follow,” Spencer said.
Finally, he added that Halo will continue to exist as long as Xbox lives as a gaming platform and that they are now focused on ensuring that the team has everything it needs to be successful.
