KIEV – A member of the elite squad United States (US) Navy SEALs died in the war against the army Russia in Ukraine .
The American elite troop soldier who was killed was known as Daniel Swift. He is part of the Naval Special Warfare Operator.
The US Navy on Friday confirmed the death of the elite force member without identifying him. According to the Navy, he is in “active defector status”.
An unnamed Navy official said Swift died on January 18 from injuries sustained in combat with Russian troops.

“We can confirm the recent death of a US citizen who fought in Ukraine,” the State Department said in a statement, which did not name Swift.
“We are in touch with his family and are providing all possible consular assistance. Out of respect for the family’s privacy during this difficult time, we have nothing more to add.”
According to a TIME magazine report Saturday (21/1/2023) Swift’s service records show that the Oregon resident enlisted in 2005 and received a medal for taking part in the Global War on Terrorism, and campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was recorded as absent without leave (AWOL) in March 2019.
US President Joe Biden’s administration has officially barred Americans from enlisting in “foreign forces” formations set up by Kiev. At least eight US citizens who did so have died in combat over the past year.
Unofficially, other US, UK and NATO special forces have been active in Ukraine since before hostilities escalated in February 2022.
