Motorbikes 2-stroke cross bikes from the 80s and 90s are experiencing a second youth. Lightweight, powerful and still great fun on the track, even if equipped of a decidedly explosive delivery.
I have too a wonderful memory of these bikeswith which I raced in the Lombardy region from 1993 onwards. Suzuki RM, Honda CR, Yamaha YZ and Kawasaki KX were the queens of the track.
But after 30 years It’s hard to find a used one in good condition (although surprises are not lacking, take a look here ).
Or you find a motorcycle with all the weight of the years on your shoulders and put it back. Will it be possible to bring it back to its former glory? The mechanical youtuber mad marc shows us that it can be done in the home garage. The ingredients are: the right tools and lots of time available. The whole seasoned with a dexterity out of the ordinary.
Marc took a 95 KX 250 in very bad condition (with the crankcase smashed)with a null value, and put it back on track, restoring every detail to its 1995 conditions.
Well, to tell the truth, one detail remains that should be fixed: in this magnificent work we don’t understand why he sawed the clutch lever. But, you know, geniuses are always a little crazy.
