100 days have passed since the ‘only yes is yes’ law came into effect. It is about 2 and a half months in which the trickle of lowering sentences does not stop.
The barrier of 200 sentence reductions has already been exceeded through this law. There are exactly 208 sentence reductions for sex offenders. And 23 of them, in addition, have been released with the entry into force of the law of the Ministry of Equality.
We have known the latest cases in Asturias. The Provincial Court of Oviedo has lowered the sentence from 13 to 9 years and 8 months for a man convicted of raping a woman when he was leaving work in Langreo in 2004.
Also in the Principality, a punishment from nine to eight years in prison has been reduced for a man who tried to abuse a minor in Avilés in 2008.
And in the Basque Country, the Court of Álava lowers the sentences of 4 men who in 2016 abused several minors under guardianship by between 1 and 2 years. All these decisions follow the guidelines established by the Supreme Court, which has already accumulated six reductions through which it has been creating jurisprudence.
