And yet, only Druckmann, together with the director Craig Maizinhave been accredited within theHBO series of the same name (visible in Italy on Sky and Now TV). And Straley didn’t take it well at all!
Through his words released to the Los Angeles Times, Bruce Straley claimed that he was neither involved in the creation of the adaptation of “his” video game, nor that he received any type of recognition (even economic), and according to his thoughts ” the fact that someone who was part of the creation of that world and those characters does not receive recognition or money for the work they have done is an argument in favor of unionization.”.
The author therefore invokes the creation of a union able to protect and safeguard the authors themselves and those who are part of the gaming industry. For those who don’t know, Bruce Straley worked on both the first The Last of Us and the Left Behind DLCbut left Naughty Dog last 2017, also working on Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End. In our opinion, it was a sensational “oversight” not to mention at least in the credits the name of one of the co-authors of The Last of Us, who contributed to the creation of this magnificent IP which later became one of the most important, most awarded and most loved within our industry.
