According to NBC News, they obtained a copy of the criminal complaint filed against Roiland through Orange County Superior Court, charging him with “one count of felony domestic battery with bodily injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by threat, violence, fraud, and/or deception.” This comes from a incident on January 19, 2020involving “an unnamed Jane Doe who was dating Roiland at the time”.
In what has been explained, we see that the creator was charged in May 2020 and then arrested and released on bail of $50,000 dollars in August of the same year. He was later arraigned in October 2020, where he pleaded not guilty to both charges. There is also a protective order filed in October 2020 and lasting until October 2023 that prohibits Roiland from harassing, threatening, monitoring, or coming within 100 feet of the person named in the document, and was also required to turn over any firearm he possessed.
NBC says details of the case such as police body camera footage, police reports, abuse investigation reports, etc. They are sealed staying hidden to the public by an order of protection. Lately we have seen how Roiland’s career has progressed a lot, so it may be that these accusations play against him for future projects.
