The mixed with Bionaz, Giacomel, Wierer and Vittozzi gives way only to France: for Dorothea it is the third consecutive podium in as many races
The medley relay, an Olympic specialty that saw Italy with a double bronze between 2014 and 2018, climbs onto the World Cup podium in Pokljuka and concludes a stage characterized by 3 out of 3 podiums by Dorothea Wierer. After the third place in the Sprint and the second place in the Pursuit, the blue financier contributes to the second place of the quartet in which Lisa Vittozzi recovers, last fractionist.
Italy arrives 24″6 (0/7) behind the France of Fabien, Fillon Mallet, Chevalier and Simon who wins in 1h19’48″9 (1/7) ahead of the blue quartet made up of Didier Bionaz, Tommaso Giacomel (fifth Saturday in the Pursuit), Dorothea Wierer and Lisa Vittozzi. Sweden is third (Melin, Ponsiluoma, Brorsson, E. Oeberg) at 47″2 (1/5), Switzerland is fourth at 1’039″3, Germany is fifth at 1’09″9 and Norway is sixth at 1 ’41”2 (12 recharges and 1 lap) with a quartet like Andersen, Dale, Knotten and Femsteinevik. The Azzurri, after a first half with some difficulty for Bionaz, changed the lead with Giacomel and managed the second position with the two girls.
Dorothea Wierer is fifth in the individual classification of the World Cup, which will restart from Ruhpolding (Ger) from 11 to 15 January.
