This product can do much more than just keep your PlayStation 5 cool or create controversy on the Internet, since its potential is enormous. In fact, scientists have already created a robot that, in true Terminator style, can change shape to go through metal bars.
Scientists at Carneagie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, United States, created a small robot less than 1 centimeter tall and shaped like LEGO. This little guy is made of liquid metal and can do more than we’d like. In his list of abilities is jumping small ditches, climbing walls and splitting in 2 to be able to move objects since he has the strength to carry 30 times his own mass.

What most caught the attention of this figure is that it can change its form to pass through metal bars without any problem, so putting it in jail will not be an option if it decides to reveal itself. The most impressive thing is that this figure can return to its original form without any major problems. All this thanks to the use of magnets and a good implementation of the temperature.
“Magnetic particles have 2 roles,” said Carmel Majidi, a researcher at Carneagie Mellon University. “One is that they make the material respond to an alternating magnetic field, so that you can, by induction, heat the material and cause the phase change. Magnetic particles also provide robots with mobility and the ability to move in response to the magnetic field.”

An advance that could have several benefits
With the warning that the Terminator left us, a liquid metal robot can bring various benefits to humanity. The group in charge of this research believes that it can be used in different ways.
For example, in their experiments the scientists had 2 small liquid metal robots charge a small light bulb to a circuit to lock it into place when it melted. With this, the metal fused with the circuitry and the bulb caught fire.

Another possible use for the technology is in the medical field. In an artificial stomach, the robot was used to melt an object and then remove it. Of course, to apply it in these cases, they will first have to find a safe way to use it in real stomachs.
