The most popular anime movie of last year in Japan without a doubt was Suzume. The most recent tape of Makoto Shinkai, creator of hits like your name or El tiempo contigo has returned to start the box office with a beautiful story. Now, a year later, we finally have release date for the film in our country.
As they have shared Crunchyroll y Sony Pictures EntertainmentSuzume will be released in theaters in Spain this coming April 14th. Before then, the film will have its international debut at the Berlin International Film Festival, which will take place in mid-February. In this festival will be present both Makoto Shinkai as Nanoka Hara (voice actor) and the film’s producer, Genki Kawamura.

On the other side of the door, was time in its entirety— Suzume is a coming-of-age story of its 17-year-old protagonist, Suzume, set in various disaster-stricken locations across Japan, where she must close doors causing devastation.
Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu (located in southwestern Japan) when she meets a young man who tells her: “I’m looking for a door.” What Suzume finds is a single weathered gate standing amidst the ruins as if protected from whatever catastrophe might strike. Seemingly drawn to her power, Suzume reaches for the knob… Doors begin to open one after another across Japan, unleashing destruction on anyone nearby. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disasters—The stars, then the sunset, and the morning sky. Within this space, it was as if all time had melted into the sky…
