YAKUTSK – Yakutsk, Russia, being the place coldest in the world . Those who live in this extreme region tell how they can survive, especially since the current temperature has penetrated -50° Celsius.
Yakutsk is in a Siberian city. During winter, the region has long been known as the coldest place on Earth.
Located 5,000 km east of Moscow in the permafrost of Russia’s Far East, residents of the mining town regularly see thermometers dropping well below -40° Celsius.

“You can’t fight it. You adjust and dress accordingly or you suffer,” said Anastasia Gruzdeva, a local resident who was outside the house with two scarves, two pairs of gloves and several hats and hoods.

“You don’t really feel the cold of the city. Or maybe it’s just the brain preparing you for it, and telling you that everything is normal,” Gruzdeva added in the icy fog.
Another resident, Nurgusun Starostina, who sells frozen fish at the market without the need for a fridge or freezer, said there are no special secrets to dealing with the cold.
“Just dress warmly,” he said, as quoted by Reuters, Monday (16/1/2023). “Layered, like cabbage!”
