JAKARTA – War between Russia and Ukraine continues to heat up, and there is no sign of it ending soon.
Since Russia attacked its neighbor in February 2022, tensions have been running high. The latest information says Moscow has deployed an intercontinental ballistic missile or ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) RS-24 Yars. However, the deployment was only for combat patrols around the Tver Region, western Russia.
What are the specifications for a missile that can carry this nuclear warhead? Here’s the review.
RS-24 Yars began to be used by Russia in 2010. Even though the name is RS-24 Yars, NATO calls it SS-29.
Its development has been carried out since 2004. Launching the Military Today page, this weapon is the latest version of the Topol-M ICBM.

The RS-24 Yars system was developed by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology which is under the control of a member of the Russian Academy of Science named Yury Solomonov.
Prior to its official use, Yars first underwent trials in 2007. The first trials were conducted in May 2007. Then, the second trials were carried out in December 2007 and November 2008.
The RS-24 Yars, which was declared ready for operation for the first time, is a road mobile version. But eventually, these missiles were put in silos.
By being placed in an inactive silo, the RS-24 Yars is very difficult for the enemy to detect.
