Suara.com – Saul Niguez’s single goal led Atletico Madrid to beat Osasuna with a score of 1-0, in Week 19 of the Spanish League match which was played at the El Sadar Stadium, Pamplona, Monday (30/1/2023) early morning WIB.
Diego Simeone’s troops are now in fourth place in the Spanish League standings, with a collection of 34 points. They temporarily closed the distance with third-placed Real Sociedad to four points adrift, before Sociedad will face Real Madrid in the next match, according to the official Spanish League website.
For Osasuna, the defeat made it even more difficult for them to break into the top four. Osasuna is now stuck in seventh position with 28 points.
Osasuna performed quite well in the first half. Their loan player from Barcelona, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, often troubles the opposing team with his speed on the left wing. But neither team were able to create any real chances before halftime.

The situation changed in the second half. Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak had to make a crucial save to deny Moi Gomez after the midfielder darted into the box to meet Abdessamad’s cross.
The Slovenian goalkeeper again showed his ability, through his success in ward off Diego Moreno’s shot over the crossbar.
Entering the 74th minute, Atletico reserve player Saul broke the deadlock. He received Rodrigo De Paul’s accurate long pass, to finish the opportunity with a lob kick into Osasuna’s goal.
Antoine Griezmann should have been able to seal Atletico’s victory, but his ball control was not accurate enough that Aitor Fernandez was able to thwart his chances. One last chance belonged to Osasuna through Jon Moncayola, but Oblak was again relied on to ward off the Osasuna midfielder’s kick.
