Crosby’s wife said in a statement to Variety: “While he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us. His legacy will live on through his legendary music.” Crosby’s cause of death has not been released.
The Byrds
Crosby co-founded the folk rock band The Byrds in 1964, who broke through a year later with their cover of Bob Dylan’s song Mr. Tambourine Man. It became a number 1 hit in the US. Crosby formed the band with Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, Chris Hillman and Michael Clarke. In 1968, a discord arose in the band and Crosby was kicked out.
Crosby, Stills & Nash
But the guitarist and singer-songwriter did not sit still. He later formed the popular group Crosby, Stills & Nash with Stephen Stills and Graham Nash. Later Neil Young also joined this group. In August 1969 they played the infamous Woodstock festival.
