Despite rumors to the contrary, Crowe will not reprise his role as Máximo Decimus Meridius in Gladiator 2 and explains why
The truth is that we were all a little surprised when we learned about some of the ideas for the sequel to ‘Gladiator’, something crazy and bizarre. Anyway, and thanks to the gods of cinema, the argument will not be that. The sequel is still underway and despite the constant reports coming from Hollywood about the actor’s participation Russell Crowe in ‘Gladiator 2‘, this one has completely discarded itself from the project. A production that has been in a dry dock for many years and that finally seems to have taken the path of realization.
This was expressed by the New Zealand actor in an interview on the program ‘Fitzy and Wippa‘, and he has been very blunt and resounding in his response, thus putting an end to the rumors of his participation once and for all.
«Absolutely. The truth. That’s why I kind of know how Scott is shaping the story.”
What is Gladiator 2 about?
Very few details have been disclosed aboutGladiator 2‘. Not its story, not the characters, not even the actors who are going to participate. Nothing, until now that Crowe loosened his tongue a bit on the show and revealed part of the plot. Thanks to this we can now rule out bizarre and absurd ideas that we have gone before. Referring to the story Ridley Scott is taking shape, these were the words of the actor:
Do you remember that there was a boy who wanted to beat the Gladiator? Which leads to the “My name is” speech. So, that boy has grown up and is now the Emperor. I don’t know what else happens from that moment on, but that’s the idea.”
The original tape, ‘Gladiator’, can currently be viewed streaming on Netflix and Paramount +.
