“If I ate all I wanted, I would be a barrel. But since I was diagnosed with diabetes, I lost 50 pounds three years ago,” he tells the magazine. The comedian can’t quite keep up. “Despite the fact that I have already gained some kilos, because I am fat with homesickness, I really pay more attention to what I eat.”
Now he lives a lot healthier than before. “When I’m in the theater, people cook for me these days. Organic, lots of vegetables, very little meat, slow carbohydrates.”
Yet Richard remains a gourmet. “Once or twice a week I unpack. Then we invite a few friends and we have an extensive dinner.” And what makes Richard best? “Truffle soup with real truffle and parmesan. Stewed veal cheeks, an extensive cheese board and homemade tarte tatin toe.”
He brought the delicious food from home. “My mom and I are always afraid there isn’t enough.” When it comes to alcoholic beverages, the comedian keeps it quiet. He is ‘not a wine lover’ and drinks gin and tonic ‘at most once a week’, because he cannot tolerate alcohol. “I’m already hanging in the chandelier of half a cherry bonbon.”
