Very good friends, this time we are pleased to be able to bring you the review of this incredible ASUS motherboard, the ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E HERO.
With the recent release of the new Ryzen 7000 series processors, this series was accompanied by a new Socket, the AM5, so this socket was accompanied by new boards. For the launch of the boards, two chipsets were released each with the extreme variant.
The X670 chipset is the HIGH-end chipset, and the B650 is the Entry-level chiset. Initially, the two X670s, the X6760E and the X670, are released and with a lag of just over a month the B650E and the B650 would hit the market, followed by the official AMD table with the plates and differences.
But as a big summary, the number of PCIe lanes and the number of USB and SATA ports vary. In practice, the difference between an X670E and a normal X670 is that on the X670E you can use PCIe 5.0 for both video and storage at the same time, while on the X670 you will have to choose one of the two components to be able to use 5.0.
Well let’s start with the motherboard, which comes in classic ASUS packaging. This ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E HERO. It comes in a beautifully branded box from ASUS, a pretty big box, but above all quite heavy. On the front the brand and model with the now classic ROG logos.
And as always, on the back of the box, the plate and its main features.
When opening the box we find on the upper lid the classic Slogan of the brand, “for those who dare” and then a Rigid plastic protector, which when removed we find the plate.
Under the board we find this first compartment where this PCIe 5.0 expansion card is, with support for 2 M.2 units, and we also find this USB which contains the motherboard drivers.
And in a lower compartment we have a series of accessories
1 ARGB RGB extension cable 1 RGB extension cable 4 SATA 6Gb/s cables 1 Bag with screws for M.2 1 additional spare Themal PAD t 1 set of ASUS Wi-Fi Antennas 3 Pack of rubber bands for additional support for M. 2 1 Q-connector, for front panel of cabinet 1 ROG support for Video cards 1 ROG key ring 1 stickrs strip 1 Manual 1 Quick assembly guide 1 Thank you card from asus for the purchase 1 x User guide
Moving on to the plate, we have a beautiful plate, where black and lead predominate. In the center we find this heatsink that on its right side has the ROG logo and under this large plate there are 2 chips, which make up the X670E.
At the back of the plate we do not find an additional backplate, something that is rare in this range of products.
Now moving to the rear panel we have:
2 x USB4 ports with Intel JHL8540 USB4 controller (2 x USB Type-C)
1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 port (1 x USB Type-C)
9 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports(8 x Type-A + 1 x Type-C)
1 x HDMI port
1 x Wi-Fi Module
1 x Intel 2.5Gb Ethernet
5 x Gold-plated audio jacks
1 x Optical S/PDIF out port
1 x BIOS FlashBack™ button
1 x Clear CMOS button
As expected in these boards, the electrical solution is excellent, starting with the 2 EPS 12V connectors for the CPU, which are reinforced with ProCool technology, ensuring durability and sufficient power for the entire Ryzen 7000 series.
As for its VRMs, in 18+2 configuration, they have passive dissipation, of generous dimensions, to be able to support both default CPUs and CPUs with overckockers.
This board has 4 DDR5 memory slots, which support up to a maximum of 128GB using the 4 slots. On the other hand, they support DDR5-6400 memories through Overclock.
On the board we find 3 M.2 slots, the top one has a direct PCIe Gen 5.0 connection from the CPU, and the other 2 M.2 are PCIe Gen 4.0.
In the upper part of I/O we find this beautiful RGB area, with an LCD screen, which when not on generates a mirror effect on the board.
Below are the main features and expansions of this board.

This was our motherboard for tests that we carried out with the entire Ryzen 7000 line, and below we leave you with some results of the comparison of processors.
In summary, we are facing one of the best X670E motherboards on the market, with excellent construction, design and robustness, already classic of the hero line.
