ROME, 26 JAN – “I am a survivor of deportation, I was 14 when I was sent to Birkenau. I have lost all of my family but in reality I have lost a total of 2000 people, i.e. those who were part of the small Jewish community of Rhodes, where I come from. I still represent this community. As long as I have strength and life, I will pass on what happened to the boys. I have faith and hope in those who will come after us”. This was stated by Sami Modiano, 92, a witness of the Holocaust, after a preview visit with the Minister of Culture Sangiuliano and the Mayor of Rome Gualtieri of the exhibition “The Nazi Inferno. The death camps of Belzec, Sobibor and Treblinka” scheduled in Rome from 27 January at the Shoah Museum Foundation. (HANDLE).
