A historic moment has just arrived on Netflix. It turns out that Reed Hastings, co-founder of Netflix, made the decision to resign from his position as CEO of the series and movie streaming company.
Through a statement, Netflix reported that Reed Hastings made the decision to leave his position as CEO of the company. This is 25 years after founding the company and turning it into a giant that revolutionized entertainment and the way we consume series and movies.

Of course, the position that Hastings used to hold will not be left empty. Ted Sarandos, current co-CEO of Netflix, will remain in command of the company, but he will not be alone. What happens is that Greg Peters, current COO, will be promoted to co-CEO.
“It’s been a baptism of fire, considering COVID and the recent challenges within our business. But both have done incredibly well, ensuring that Netflix continues to improve and develop a clear path to re-accelerate our revenue and profit growth. Hastings explained.
Hastings will remain on Netflix
It is worth mentioning that Hastings will not be leaving the company he founded and led to success. In fact, he will take a very important new position.

It turns out that Hastings will now take the role of president of Netflix. He will also remain on the board of directors. With this, his departure from the company is similar to that of Jeff Bezos, who last year decided to leave the Amazon address.
“For myself, I will help Greg and Ted and, as a good chairman, serve as a bridge between the board and our co-CEOs. I will also spend more time on philanthropy and remain very focused on making Netflix stock do well,” Hastings said.
