Toei Animation has grossed huge amounts thanks to One Piece Film: Red and First Slam Dunk. Find out how much and why
According to reports from Anime News Network this past Wednesday, Toei Animation has generated an incredible amount of 32,563,660,570 yen (about US$246 million) in the year 2022having sold a total of 23,646,555 tickets and, with it, breaking the record 17,980,254,340 yen (about US$135 million at current conversion values) in 2009.
The animation studio made statements in this regard, indicating that One Piece Film: Red and The First Slam Dunk they shone at the box office and catapulted the studio to large numbers.
The One Piece movie was released on August 6, 2022 in Japan, selling more than 13.79 million tickets, grossing more than 19 billion yen (about 144 million dollars) in a period of 157 days.
The First Slam Dunk, for its part, debuted on December 3, 2022, from which time it sold some 5.27 million tickets in 38 days and, on top of that, ranked first at the box office for six consecutive weeks.
One Piece Red: Film is now in Spanish theaterswhile First Slam Dunk continues, for the moment, in Japanese theaters, without having yet had a confirmation date to reach Spain.
