Real Madrid has reached the final of the Spanish Super Cup in Riyadh. The national champion defeated Valencia on penalties, 4-3. After 90 minutes it was 1-1, no goals were scored in extra time.
Real Madrid took the lead in Saudi Arabia about 5 minutes before the break. Karim Benzema, the French top scorer who had to miss the World Cup, used a penalty kick. Immediately after the restart it was equalized by a goal from Brazilian Samuel Lino, who scored on a pass from Toni Lato.
Justin Kluivert was a basic player at Valencia. He was substituted by Italian coach Gennaro Gattuso about fifteen minutes before the end of official playing time.
Barcelona and Real Betis will play the other semi-final on Thursday. The final battle is on Sunday.
