MEXICO CITY – Mexican authorities arrested El Chapo’s son, Ovidio Guzman, on January 5, 2023 in Culiacan, Sinaloa.
The arrest was made because Ovidio Guzman was accused of leading the Sinaloa cartel that his father founded.
His father, El Chapo or Joaquin Guzman himself is known as a mafia and leader of the Sinaola cartel, the most powerful criminal organization in Mexico.
Currently, El Chapo is languishing in prison in the United States (US). Because his father was behind bars, Ovidio became the next most wanted figure by the authorities. Because, he has long helped his father in running and developing the business.
After Ovidio Guzman’s arrest, the atmosphere in Culiacan City was reportedly tense. Carjackings and shootings have occurred, as a result of the drug kingpin’s arrest.

Ovidio Guzman is El Chapo’s son from his second wife, Griselda. He was born on March 29, 1990 and grew up in Mexico City.
Ovidio was educated at a Roman Catholic school. However, his education was not completed because he had been involved in his father’s business since 2008, when he was 18 years old.
