LONDON – British Minister for the Middle East Lord Tariq Ahmad had become a hot topic of conversation after visiting the Al-Aqsa Mosque and taking the time to pray there.
Quoting the Middle East Monitor page, Monday (16/1/2023), Tariq Ahmad started his first official visit to Palestine as a minister on Wednesday (11/1/2023).
During the visit, he met Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki. In between his visits, he took time to visit the holy site of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and pray there.
So, who is this Tariq Ahmad actually?
Quoting the UK Government’s official website, Lord Tariq Ahmad is Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and the United Nations in the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

In addition, Tariq is also the British Prime Minister’s special representative for the prevention of sexual violence in conflict. In his history, he has held this position since June 2017.
In his educational history, Tariq Ahmad has studied at Rutlish School, London South Bank University, to the Institute of Financial Services.
Moving on to his career, he has spent around 20 years working in banking and finance, including the NatWest Group.
Later, he also served as Vice President and Director of Marketing at Alliance Bernstein and Director of Strategy and Marketing at Sucden Financial.
