JAKARTA – One person pastor Catholic Nigeria named Isaac Achi burned alive at his house some time ago. This unfortunate event shocked the public and received various responses.

Because the gunmen couldn’t get in, they chose to burn Achi along with his house. In this incident, another priest who was identified as Pastor Collins had fled. However, he received a gunshot wound while trying to escape.
Pastor Isaac Achi himself was actually recently assigned and in charge of the Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul in Minna Diocese, Nigeria.
Quoting the American Magazine page, it is said that the attack by an armed group was not the first time for Pastor Achi. In 2011, the militant group Boko Haram attacked during a Christmas service at the church.
At that time, Isaac Achi survived. However, this does not apply to some other people who must die.
Apart from Pastor Achi, it turns out that attacks by armed groups in Nigeria are quite widespread and target religious figures. Previously, in July 2022 pastor John Mark Chietnum also died after being kidnapped in Kaduna state.

In this case, the Nigerian authorities claim that the government is also struggling to stem the increase in violence from armed groups in some of its areas.
Apart from religious figures, they usually also target rural residents to be kidnapped and later demand ransom. One of the problems faced is the security forces which are often outnumbered and outgunned.
Another country in Africa, namely the Democratic Republic of the Congo, also experienced something similar to Nigeria. On January 15, 2023, a bomb exploded which killed a number of people during a church service in the town of Kasindi, near the border with Uganda.
In this incident, security forces linked him to an extremist group from Uganda called the Allied Democratic Forces.
