In 1948 Ferdinand Porsche, Ferry to the friends, made his dream come true with the launch of the 356, the first model of his own brand. The 356 was a compact sports car with a very low weight, which made the 40 hp strong boxer engine in the back even feel spicy. In total, some 78,000 units of the 356 were built before the model handed over to the 911, which still forms the core of the range today. But what if Porsche redesigned the 356?
Technique of the Cayman GT4 RS
That’s what this Porsche Vision 357 tries to suggest. It is a retro-modern racing car that tries to mix the core values of the 356 with modern technology. The technical basis comes from the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, including the 500 hp strong six-cylinder boxer. But the carriage is completely new, with rounded lines that fuse the past and the future. Note the hidden headlights and taillights, the wraparound windshield and the titanium tailpipes.
The future also lies in the ecological elements of the Vision 357, such as the side skirts made of natural fibers or the fact that the boxer engine is powered by renewable e-fuel. But it is undoubtedly a real sports car, judging by its wide stance, its magnesium rims with center caps and carbon aero covers and the number 75 that almost adorns the Vision 357 as a racing number. There are of course no production plans, but Porsche will take the study model to various car shows in the near future.
