We got an interesting message related to Game Freak’s Pocket Card Jockey. Apparently, one of those responsible has ruled on the closure of the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
Specifically we talk about Masao TayaGame Freak veteran who has worked on Pokémon and has been director of Pocket Card Jockey. In a recent meeting with VGC, he has expressed his sadness at the closure of this store:
The video game industry is a fiercely competitive space that has continued to develop from its inception to this day. So when you consider that companies need to keep offering more releases to provide users with newer and more exciting games, I think the closure of e-stores is inevitable. That being said, the 3DS eShop was where the original Pocket Card Jockey was sold, and had many other interesting games, so I’m personally saddened by its loss.
Nintendo is a company that has a long history and is a leader in the video game industry. I feel like he’s passionate about providing an environment where customers can play classic and nostalgic games, including titles from other companies, just like with today’s Nintendo Switch Online. I think this is wonderful. I would be delighted if one day the original Pocket Card Jockey could have a second life with a niche among other classic games.
