The news we are about to give you comes from a report released online by the well-informed Bloomberg, usually very close to home events Sony Interactive Entertainment. According to what emerged, due to the low number of PlayStation VR2 pre-orders on the part of users, the Japanese company would have decided to halve the production of the viewer and consequently, placing a smaller quantity of devices on the market. But let’s get into the details.
Up to now, PlayStation VR2 would have accumulated fewer pre-orders than initially estimated by Sony, which disappointed would have thus decided to no longer reach 2 million units distributed worldwide in Q1 2023. Again according to the report, in Q1 2023 they will be produced and distributed only 1 million pieces (effectively halving production), while it will be reached by the end of the year the figure of 1.5 million PSVR2. Again according to Bloomberg, but it is also our thought, the high price of the viewer would have destabilized the players, which in Europe will cost 599.99 euros (549.99 dollars) and therefore, more than the PlayStation 5 itself. Probably, we will have to wait for a clear price-cut (price cut) of the viewer to witness a mass purchase. We remind you that all this information, however, at least for the moment, they are not to be regarded as official.
Meanwhile, 13 other titles and the launch line up of the virtual reality viewer intended for PlayStation 5 have recently been announced.
