This week the 12th edition of the New York Game Awards took place, an event where the best games of 2022 and a key figure in the industry were awarded: Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. The New York Videogame Critics Circle recognized the executive’s career with a prestigious award and also presented ELDEN RING with the 2022 GOTY Award.
The event had a total of 16 categories in which very important titles, in addition to the FromSoftware game, triumphed. Like other awards, the New York Game Awards recognized the best of the indie industry, the most outstanding soundtrack, the most spectacular narrative, and also awarded prizes to other personalities in the sector.

Phuil Spencer Receives Prestigious Award at New York Game Awards
The New York Videogame Critics Circle honored Phil Spencer with the 2022 Andrew Yoon Legend Award for his significant and ongoing work in the industry. During the event, his 30+ year career at Microsoft and the contributions he has made to Xbox were highlighted.
“It was an honor to attend the New York Game Awards this year, to see so many inspiring creators and to receive the Andrew Yoon Legend Award. Thank you all for the nice notes and comments”, thanked the manager on his social networks.
This prestigious award has previously been presented to other industry personalities such as Reggie Fils-Aimé, Hideo Kojima, Tim Schafer, Jade Raymond and Todd Howard. Below, you can meet all the winners of the event:
