PARIS, 31 JAN – War of numbers over the participants in the Paris demonstration, and more generally in the marches throughout France. The figure of half a million for the Parisian march, announced by the communist union CGT at the beginning of the afternoon, contrasts with that of 87,000 for the police and even 55,000 – a tenth of the CGT – by Occurrence, an independent observatory which includes several French media, including BFM-TV. The CGT speaks tonight of 2.8 million protesters across France. (HANDLE).
