With the OV-fiets, NS wants to make traveling by train as attractive as possible. NS currently offers nearly 22,000 bicycles at nearly three hundred rental locations in the Netherlands: stations, bus or metro stops and P+R areas. The number of journeys increased between 2014 and 2019 from 1.5 million in 2014 to 5.2 million in 2019 and will continue to rise this year. The public transport bicycle is proving to be particularly popular for travelers who are short of transport.
