This Tuesday, January 24, the Hollywood Academy presented all its candidates who will compete in the next 2023 Oscar ceremony.
These awards recognize the best of cinema, and Every year it has become customary for more and more Mexicans to appear among the nominees, that over time have positioned national talent abroad.
This year was not the exeption. Guillermo del Toro stood out among the candidates with his acclaimed film “Pinocchio”, which will compete for the Best Animated Feature category. Basically this candidacy was assuredconsidering that “Pinocchio” has been worth all kinds of positive reviews and awards, so that some say that del Toro will once again take home an Oscar.
What other Mexicans were nominated for the Oscars 2023?
Another of the Mexican names that appears among the list Alejandro González Iñárritu, whose controversial film “Bardo”, is among the nominees for Best Cinematographyperformed by Darius Khondji.
And finally, Alfonso Cuarón is also nominated in the Best Short Film category, a nomination granted for the short film “Le Pupille”, which is available on Disney+, and which according to the original description, is “a story about pure and selfish desires, freedom and devotion, and anarchy that is capable of flourishing in the minds of the girls within the confines of a strict religious boarding school at Christmas”.
There is no doubt that it is customary to see more Mexican talents in Hollywood, whose creativity and ingenuity knows no boundaries.
