The Orlando Magic basketball players have ended the winning streak of the Boston Celtics in the NBA. The Celtics had won nine games in a row, but Magic prevented a tenth consecutive win 113-98.
20-year-old Paolo Banchero had an important share in Magic’s home victory with 23 points. The American-Italian Banchero was chosen by Magic as the first in the NBA draft last year and against the Celtics he showed why the Florida team wanted him so badly.
“Every time you play against a title contender, or a team that has already reached the final, you want to give your best and get a win,” said Banchero afterwards. “That’s my mentality, and our team’s. And we were able to do it. I just wanted to be important with my actions and movements. Be aggressive and decisive, and the results will come naturally.”
Wendell Carter Jr. took 2 points less than Banchero. He hit 11 rebounds and three three-pointers. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both scored 26 points on behalf of the visitors, but were unable to save their team from the first loss since January 3. Boston Celtics continue to lead the Eastern Conference with 35 wins and 13 losses. Orlando Magic is thirteenth in the East with 18 wins and 29 losses.
