Opel wants to have an electrified version of every model in its range by 2024, a goal that has almost been achieved: only the Crossland can only be ordered with combustion engines. By 2028, the entire range must become fully electric. A clear vision of the future, which is underlined by the range that the brand brings to the Brussels Motor Show with the Blitz: only plug-in hybrids and fully electric cars will be on display in Hall 5, where Opel will have its stand together with the other Stellantis brands. Will get.
GSe and Electric
That electrification does not necessarily have to be boring, even with a sober brand like Opel, they want to prove in Rüsselsheim with the new GSe models. The Astra GSe is available as both a hatchback and a Sports Tourer and will have a 225 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain, a modified suspension and specific bumpers and rims. However, it combines that sportiness with a standard emission of just 25 g CO2/km. The Opel Grandland GSe is not that new, the pre-facelift plug-in hybrid already had 300 hp, but in this case there are specific 19-inch wheels, Koni shock absorbers and an optional black bonnet that matches the black roof .
The Astra will also be seen in its electric form on the Opel stand, which is now referred to as the Astra Electric. It achieves a driving range of 416 km thanks to its economical 156 hp electric motor and its 54 kWh battery. The same powertrain has recently also been used in the Opel Mokka Electric (and therefore no longer Mokka-e), so that the compact SUV can now travel up to 406 km on a charge – almost 70 km more than before. Finally, Opel’s light commercial vehicles are now also available with an electric powertrain, from the small Combo-e to the large Movano-e. The new naming has apparently not yet reached the vans.
