While The Last of Us is a very cinematic experience, it’s still a video game that can be difficult to tackle for people unfamiliar with the medium. That means a large audience is unaware of Joel and Ellie’s story. Fortunately, this could soon change with the premiere of the live action series that is just around the corner.
In fact, Neil Druckmann, co-chairman of Naughty Dog and executive producer of the HBO production, confessed in a recent interview that his parents were finally able to “experience” The Last of Us for themselves.

The Last of Us will reach more people thanks to the HBO series
Although the series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will hit the small screen starting Sunday, January 15, earlier this week there was a special screening that members of Naughty Dog and other select people could attend.
So, Neil Druckman revealed that he brought his parents to the premiere last Monday, allowing them to finally experience Joel and Ellie’s emotional story arc.

“(My parents) don’t play video games, but they were finally able to experience The Last of Us for themselves,” the creative confessed in statements to the Vanity Fair portal.
Fortunately, it seems that the members of Naughty Dog were also satisfied with the adaptation. Neil Druckmann says that he was able to watch the production with hundreds of his colleagues, many of whom worked on the critically acclaimed 2013 video game for many years.
“They got to see their work done, I think, to such a beautiful degree; They were moved to tears,” said the manager. Additionally, an animator emailed Druckmann after the screening to express her excitement that 2 scenes he worked on in the game would be recreated shot-for-shot on the HBO show.
Everything indicates that The Last of Us series exceeded expectations. This week, the first reviews by the press and content creators came to light. Initial impressions were, for the most part, very positive. So, it seems that we are facing one of the best video game adaptations in all of history.
We remind you that the first episode will arrive on HBO this Sunday, January 15.
But tell us, do you think the HBO production will allow new people to learn the story of the game? Let us read you in the comments.
