Danish footballer Mikkel Duelund will leave NEC Nijmegen immediately. The Eredivisie club has dissolved the lease with Dinamo Kiev, so that the midfielder can now complete his transfer to Aarhus in his home country.
The 25-year-old Duelund was in the base at NEC for the last three games, but he apparently did not see a future with the number 9 in the position. “It is important that there is perspective for a player and that was increasingly lacking after the start of the competition,” says technical director Carlos Aalbers. “Mikkel has always been professional and for that reason we were also willing to cooperate on a transfer, partly because we can accommodate his departure internally.”
Duelund came to 41 official appearances for NEC during a year and a half. The playmaker was good for four goals and five assists in that period.
