The Last of Us y Uncharted They are two of the most emblematic sagas of PlayStation, the two most recent creations of the studio Naughty Dog…and, coincidentally, also the first two Sony PlayStation IPs to receive large-scale film and television adaptations.
The Last of Us is now more popular than ever thanks to the HBO Max series, and its media creator, Neil Druckmann, recently gave an interview to BuzzFeed where he gave clues about the possible future of The Last of Us and Uncharted in video games.
And we have good news for fans de The Last of Us… and bad for those of Uncharted.

Uncharted is already part of Naughty Dog’s past
“I know there are a lot of people wondering if The Last of Us Part 3 will go ahead or not. All I can say is that at Naughty Dog we are very privileged because our publisher is Sony, which means that Sony funds our games.”
Druckmann explains that Sony “has supported them every step of the way,” and contrary to what people think, just because something is successful doesn’t mean that Sony pressures them to make a sequel. And he gives Uncharted as an example.
“Uncharted was incredibly successful for us, Uncharted 4 was one of our best-selling games, and we were able to put our final touch on that story and say we’re done. We have turned the page“.
The Last of Us Part 3 will depend on whether they write a good story
“Similarly, with The Last of Us it is up to us if we want to continue it or not. Our process is the same as we did when we did Part 2.”
“If we can come up with a good story that has this universal message about love, like the first and second games did, then we’ll tell that story. If we can’t find something, we have a very strong end with Part 2 and that will be the end“.
Therefore, Druckmann implies that nothing has been decided on The Last of Us 3. Druckmann insists that his next game, the title multiplayer of The Last of Us, in which “you can go in with a friend and experience the tension of this world with a new story and characters”, it will be an equally ambitious project.
But about Uncharted it’s very clear: they’ve already finished Nathan Drake’s story and they don’t care… which clashes with recent rumors that speak of a reboot of Uncharted in another studio.
