During an interview granted to the notebooks of BuzzFeedNeil Druckmann confirmed that Naughty Dog is done with the Uncharted seriestherefore in all likelihood video games belonging to that saga will no longer be developed.
“Naughty Dog is very lucky to have a publisher like Sony: this means that Sony finances our games, supports us, we are part of Sony. They supported us step by step in our passions. Just because something happens, people think we’re under pressure to create a sequel,” said Neil Druckmann. “That’s not the case. For us, Uncharted was a huge success – so much so that Uncharted 4 is one of our best-selling games – but we were able to close that story and say we were done. We are moving forward.”
During the same interview, the Naughty Dog exponent also talked about a possible third chapter of The Last of Us, declaring that for now the studio is engaged in the development of the multiplayer spin-off, but it is not excluded that the main story can continue in the future. “With The Last of Us it’s up to us whether we want to continue or not,” said Druckmann. “Our process is the same that led to Part II: if we have to come up with a compelling story that carries a universal message about love – like the first and second games – only then will we tell that story . In case we can’t think of anything, we already have the ending of Part II and then we will write the final word.
