The Yamaha team manager: “He has to rediscover himself”
In an interview with Crash.net, Yamaha team principal Lin Jarvis returned to talking about the crisis that gripped Franco Morbidelli, in the last year of his contract with the Japanese team: “The knee injury was the turning point , which meant he was out for five races, then we brought him into the factory team for the last five races, but he wasn’t fit. We were faced with an extraordinary situation. He accepted the role, but he was probably too soon”.
In 2022 Morbidelli always remained in the rear, while his teammate Quartararo fought for the title: “He trained well all winter. Something was missing and he was never able to really find confidence with the bike. Frankie He didn’t have the same speed, braking aggressiveness and cornering speed, that the Yamaha needs. You have to have a lot of confidence to do that, and that’s something I would say is Fabio’s forte. He has a lot of confidence with the front of the bike and Frankie struggled to find her. We know he can be fast, he has good skills. But he has to rediscover himself and we have to give him better tools to help him through that process.”
