The rosanero president retraces the moments of terror after the window broke: “Luckily it happened at a low altitude, otherwise it could have broken and…”. The team arrived in Ascoli Piceno at 6.30 in the morning
“We were at Punta Raisi and at 19.45 we were ready, on time, to take off towards Pescara. Everything was perfect, in order, but after 15 minutes of flight the captain made the announcement: the front glass crystal in the cockpit it had been damaged due to bad weather, probably a stroke of lightning, given that it was raining heavily and obliquely in Palermo yesterday.I remember the activation of the emergency procedures and the minutes of waiting before landing back at Punta Raisi: no one said a word no matter how scared they felt in the cabin”. When the 53-year-old Rosanero president Dario Mirri thinks back to the infinite minutes in the flight in the night between Friday and Saturday, he immediately becomes serious, aware that everything went for the best but that, in worse conditions, it could have ended differently. He does it directly from Villa Picena in Colli del Tronto, a hotel a stone’s throw from Ascoli, which is hosting the team before the Del Duca match tomorrow at 2pm.
In hotel every 6.30

A match postponed by one day, after the decision of the B League arrived late Friday evening. Impossible to play at 2 pm this afternoon, especially if Palermo only arrived at the hotel at 6.30, after landing in Pescara at 5 and taking the bus to Colli del Tronto. “Fortunately, the accident occurred at a lower altitude, if it hadn’t been like this, the glass could have broken and the situation got worse – says Mirri -. With his experience, the pilot, an ex of Alitalia, limited the worst and once he landed he told us that something like this had never happened to him in 30 years of work”. And again: “It was impossible to change the front glass crystal, just as it was difficult to find a new take-off slot – adds the Rosanero president -. Aeroitalia, our company that we often use for charter trips, the latest in Perugia “He therefore had to find a replacement aircraft. However, the suitable one was not in the area: it had just departed from Rome to head to Bergamo, it would then have had to carry out the refueling procedures and arrive in Sicily”. So in the end it was, and the team left for Pescara “at 3.50 sharp – says Mirri -. In the meantime we sent our players to rest in a hotel near the Falcone e Borsellino airport, the Magaggiari, however they stayed with the mobile phone on. In the meantime, we were in continuous contact with the Lega, the Police Headquarters and Ascoli. We have to realize how many people are behind the organization of a match and how complicated it is to move it. Once the situation has been monitored, the Lega has opted to move it to Sunday according to the needs of all interested parties”.

With the official date and time change, thanks came from Mirri himself for all those who facilitated the change of match. And not only that, the rosanero club has also thought of the 222 fans who arrived in the Marche region, who, due to this misfortune, had to reschedule their plans. “Our thoughts also went to all our fans who, unfortunately, will miss this match – adds Mirri – When we played in Serie D and then in C, I followed almost all the away matches traveling with my car, just as I did when I was a simple fan. I understand how difficult it is to stay close to the team, which is why we decided to give away a Palermo shirt to those who had already bought tickets for the away sector. We want to give them, even more, a symbolic and membership that binds them to our club”. The Rosanero fans have also ended up in the thoughts of Ascoli, who will offer a bag of stuffed olives during the interval.
