Both companies have just announced this via a press release.
RTL Nederland and Talpa Network announced in the summer of 2021 that they wanted to merge. Supervisor Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) said that an in-depth investigation was needed first. Initially, that study was supposed to be completed before the summer, but it was repeatedly delayed.
This delay was partly due to objections that market parties, such as publisher DPG Media and the Association of Advertisers, made to ACM. DPG protested against the position the combination would have on the radio market, as advertisers feared more expensive commercials.
RTL Nederland and Talpa then made proposals to remove these objections, the so-called remedies.
