The police finally named a suspect in the accident case that killed UI student Muhammad Hasya Atallah. However, in this case, the police instead named Hasya the suspect, an accident victim who died after being hit by a retired police officer. How come?
This was conveyed by the Hasya family’s legal team, Indira Rezkisari. Regarding Hasya being a suspect, he asked the police to ask about this.
“Yes, we confirmed this,” he told reporters, Thursday (26/1), quoted by Viva.co.id.

The determination of the status of a suspect against Hasya was discovered after his party received a Letter of Notification of the Progress of Investigation Results (SP2HP) regarding the accident case.
The letter was attached with the Notice of Termination of Investigation (SP3) after which Hasya was named a suspect.
The reason for the police, because Hasya died, the case was stopped.
“In it is attached an Investigation Termination Warrant (SP3) No. B/17/2023/LLJS dated January 16, 2023. The SP3 was because the legal team received information that LP 585 was stopped. The reason was that Hasya, who was named a suspect, had died,” he said.
Meanwhile, the police have yet to provide any information regarding the status of this suspect.

For information, a UI student named Muhammad Hasya Atallah died after allegedly being the victim of a hit-and-run in the South Jakarta area.
Based on the images received, Hasya died after being hit by a car on October 6, 2022, around 21.00 WIB. In the narration of the photo, it is said that Hasya was hit by a retired National Police officer using a Pajero sports car.
The police said that the suspected perpetrators had been examined and always carried out a mandatory report every week.
“He was checked, instead he was obliged to report weekly absences. He was obliged to report on Thursday,” said Head of the South Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit, Police Commissioner Joko Sutriono to reporters, Saturday (26/11/2022).
Police have also asked for statements from witnesses. One of them was the victim’s colleague who was also riding a motorcycle behind the victim before the accident.
